Kingsdown is a delightful seaside village, almost set back in time. The villlage itself boasts 3 pubs, one of which The Zetland Arms, has an unrivalled position right on the beach and offers beautifuly cooked fresh seafood dishes. At the far end of Kingsdown beach, there is a coastal footpath that rises up to the White Cliffs where you can walk to St Margaret's Bay and further on to the impressive Victorian South Foreland lighthouse (National Trust) with its quaint vintage tearooms. Kingsdown is a great base for exploring this beautiful part of the Garden of England. The ever so popular, Deal with its iconic 1950s pier, two Tudor castles (Deal Castle and Walmer Castle and Gardens) and array of independent shops can be reached along the pedestrianised seafront footpath path/cycle path or is five minutes by ca. The medieval town of Sandwich is a fifteen minute drive away and the UNESCO world heritage site of Canterbury is thirty minutes by car. Kingsdown Beach is a popular spot for kayakers to paddle out for some mackerel fishing!
