Summers in Deal are fun-filled and full of adventure for the whole family. Here are ten reasons we think you should spend your summer here this year.

We’re lucky to have not one but two castles in our town. Walmer, with its beautiful grounds and gardens was a favourite of the Queen Mother.  Deal Castle, in the shape of a Tudor rose was built by Henry VIII. Each castle has lots of history to learn about and make for a fun day out without even leaving the town.

2. BBQs
When the sun’s out in Deal, everyone gets their BBQs out and that delicious smell wafts down the warm streets. Lots of our cottages come with their own BBQ for you to cook up a storm. You could even pick up a portable one from the supermarket and bring it on to the beach. The butchers in Deal make up great BBQ packs, and can supply you with the very best local produce.

3. Back garden adventures
We have a great selection of family cottages. They come with back gardens big enough for adventures and games. There’s plenty of room for the kids to run around a blow off steam. Some cottages even have their own swimming pool or tennis court. Take a look at our family cottages.

4. Rockpooling
Kingsdown beach is a treasure trove of sea life. There’s shrimp crab and starfish to be found in the rockpools, bring along nets and buckets to see what you can find. There’s also a great pub, The Zetland nearby to refuel at and for Mums and Dads to enjoy a pint.

5. Fun with the dog
Our pet friendly cottages mean that the whole family can stay. Bring the dog along to join in your summer fun. Deal is a very dog friendly town, with lots of pubs and cafes welcoming them. Deal beach parlour even serves a special doggy ice cream treat, the K9 99. Perfect after a walk along the coast. Check out the pet friendly selection.

6. Cycling
If you’re keen on cycling, Deal and the Kent coast is a great place to spend the summer. With trails following the coast for miles, quaint villages to visit and Betteshanger park on your doorstep there’s plenty to explore for all levels of experience.

7. Fish and chips
Hot battered fish wrapped up in paper with lashings of salt and vinegar, there’s nothing like it. In Deal we have a few award winning fish and chip shops but of course everyone has their personal favorite. Just be sure to get them wrapped up and enjoy by the beach. On a summer evening there’s nothing better.

8. Beach picnics
Pack up a picnic for the day and enjoy it on the beach. The great thing about Deal beach is that you can pop in to town or the shops if you need to. Lots of our cottages are steps away from the beach too. Enjoy a relaxing escape by the the waves, with home or amenities moments away.
