February half term fun in Kent!

With the February half term holidays in Kent only round the corner,  thoughts are turning to family days out, in and around Kent.  Our team at Keepers Cottages thought we would share with you lots of ideas for little people and of course it will be fun for big people too! There are a wealth of options to choose from covering all requirements for culture, adventure and entertainment all within easy reach. Here are just a few of our recommendations.

Dover Castle

For a great family day out in Kent, visit Dover Castle. Immerse yourself in our dramatic new visitor experience, Operation Dynamo: Rescue from Dunkirk, open now to visitors.

Explore the darkly atmospheric Secret Wartime Tunnels now with a vivid recreation of the Dunkirk evacuation, complete with dramatic projections of swooping Spitfires and real film footage.

Sharpen kids’ detective skills with Secrets & Spies, daily 15-23 February.

Dickens World

Dickens World

Dickens World in Chatham is a 90 minute journey of discovery. You will be guided through the amazing life and story of Charles Dickens, as well as the tales of Victorian England. It is a chance to meet all of the nice and nasty characters that Charles Dickens loved and wrote about in his novels and short stories.

To make the experience even more special, why not stay at our lovely seaside holiday cottage in Broadstairs, called Bleak House Lodge. This is where Charles Dickens used to holiday himself.

Tides2Deal – Tides Leisure Centre is a fabulous multi sports leisure centre with a large swimming pool with slides, a wave machine and smaller pools for tiny ones. We have many holiday cottages in Deal, Kent for you to look at.

homeimage06Fowlmead Country Park, near Deal in East Kent, has a two mile tarmac cycle track, leisure paths for cycling and walking and established woodlands, wetlands and reed beds full of wildlife.

Bike hire is available, as is a Confidence Course, BMX Pump Tracks and Orienteering and a host of adventurous outdoor activities for children, including Archery, Cycling, Fossiling, Geo-Caching and Den Building.

Why not stay nearby at one of our lovely seaside self-catering cottages and explore the beautiful unspoilt Kent Coast.

If the weather is not looking favourable then why not make a trip to London, only 1 hour by high-speed from Dover and take in some of the fabulous rain-friendly and child-friendly museums from the Science Museum to the London Transport Museum to the Cartoon Museum you should be able to cater for everyone’s tastes but if you are still in need of a little inspiration then try Top 10 Museums in London for Children.
