Keepers Cottages thanks NHS workers with free holiday cottage stay on the Kent coast
Leading Kent holiday cottage agency, Keepers Cottages, has recognised the hard work and dedication of NHS workers during the Covid-19 pandemic, by offering three free stays in a holiday cottage on the Kent coast by way of a thank you.
Competition on Facebook and Instagram to nominate an NHS worker
Keepers Cottages, based in the seaside town of Deal, launched a competition in April on Facebook and Instagram, in support of the nationwide #TreatOurNHS campaign, in which it asked followers to nominate someone they felt was worthy of the prize, along with an explanation why.
Director and owner, Camilla Shipton said “To be honest, we were absolutely overwhelmed with the response. So much so that we extended our prize of one cottage stay to three. Simply because there were so many worthy entries.”
Camilla added “Like so many of us during Covid, we have been hugely moved by the selfless dedication of all those working for the NHS. The way in which they have put themselves in the firing line of this terrible virus, by going to work each day whilst the rest of us stayed at home really inspired us to give something back, as a small way of saying thank you.”
3 winners given a free stay in a Keepers Cottage property in Deal
Winners of the giveaway were announced in May as Holly Breakwell, Matthew Rutter and Hazel McCarthy.
Holly Breakwell voted for her brother Michael Breakwell and sister in law Lucy Holmes, who both work in the NHS and didn’t get to see their little girl at all during the pandemic.
Matthew Rutter voted for his wife, Tracy who has worked as a midwife for 8 years at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. She had been doing an extra shift each fortnight due to Covid-19, as well as looking after her two children whilst they were not at school.
Hazel McCarthy voted for her boyfriend’s mum, Viv Epps, who is a GP practice manager. Viv had been going above and beyond for her patients and returned to work during the COVID 19 pandemic even though she had recently been off due to a brain haemorrhage. Viv also cares for her mother in law, who lives with them.
