"Spacious cottage in the lovely town of deal. Great location - everywhere walkable and beach 2 mins away. Has everything you need for a lovely family break, including a nice outdoor seating area. If you like firm beds though this is probably not the place for you as the antique frames don't provide much support. Other than that it's a great place from which to enjoy Deal!"

Property Description

Tavistock is a beautiful, period townhouse with bags of character, conveniently located within minutes of the many independent shops, pubs and Deal seafront. Sleeping five people, it's perfect for a couple, a small group of friends, or a family wishing to escape the routine of everyday life. The house has recently been lovingly renovated to provide an extremely comfortable living space. The owners have sourced an interesting collection of artwork, lighting, mirrors and soft furnishings, which give the house a truly unique, yet cosy appeal. Spacious and calming with it's relaxing, colour palette of blues and greys, the windows have been dressed with a mix of white shutters and light curtains, which give an overall feel of light and space.

The property also benefits from a really lovely, secluded garden which has variety of planting, trees and pretty inlaid paths. There is a BBQ which guests are welcome to use and a thoughtful choice of seating and dining areas, perfect for summer dining.


Ground Floor

Entry through the front door via two steps into a vestibule (useful for coats and umbrellas) and then to an elegant hallway.

Reception Room

To the right is the first of two reception rooms, this large, bright room is tastefully furnished with leather sofas, wooden floors and bookcases containing books, games and jigsaw puzzles. There is a TV here and an open fireplace, but not for use at the moment.

Living / Dining Room

The hallway leads through to the second open-plan living / dining area. This cleverly thought out space is the perfect place to relax, with comfortable sofas, mood lighting and the addition of a log burner ideal for chilly evenings.

The through dining area with a large skylight roof to add extra light, has enough seating for five people. French doors lead straight to the pretty garden.

Kitchen

A large, recently renovated kitchen has a combination of built-in units and freestanding furniture. The owners have gone the extra mile to create a charming, inviting space. The relaxing palette of cool grey and blues with carefully sourced artwork and ceramics give the whole place a unique, yet homely feel. The fully equipped kitchen has a fan oven with gas hob, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and enough cooking equipment to allow the chef in the group to prepare meals whilst the rest of the party relax in the social open plan dining / living room.

Bathroom

There is a downstairs bathroom located just off the kitchen which has a bath with shower over, handbasin and WC.

First Floor

Master bedroom

The master bedroom is to the front of the house and has a brass bed, period fireplace (not in use), carefully thought out lighting and some storage.

Single bedroom

Next to the master bedroom is a single bedroom also to the front of the house with a single pine bed, and some storage.

Twin bedroom

Off the landing is the twin bedroom with views to the rear garden. The owners have furnished the room with some storage, a pair of twin wooden vintage beds, although new comfortable mattresses have been added. The eclectic mix of old and new continues with vintage lamps, artworks and retro printed bedding.

Shower Room

There is a shower room upstairs with fresh green tiles, WC, handbasin and a good size walk in shower.

Garden

Secluded, walled garden to rear with a choice of areas to sit and enjoy an al fresco meal or sip a chilled drink on a summers evening. There is a BBQ which guests are welcome to use.

Parking vouchers available at £2.20 per day (cost value).

*Please note - Free parking is available very close by in a number of streets (just outside the conservation area) eg. along the seafront to the marina or in several streets north and around Water Street.



Local Information

Water Street is located just minutes from the high street, where you wont be lost for things to do. There are a number of independent coffee shops, grocery stores, pharmacies, butchers and independent shops. You can hire a bike and cycle along the promenade which stretched towards Sandwich in one direction or Kingsdown in the other. If you prefer walking, then you can go up to St Margarets Bay or towards the cliffs of Dover. Ramsgate and Broadstairs sandy beaches are also within an easy drive. There are also a number of fantastic restaurants and pubs in Deal; the Rose is lovely in the evenings with a roof terrace garden and a restaurant inside, but book in advance as it gets very booked up! Deal Hoy is also fantastic for pizzas in the summer!
