Arthur's Cottage

Arthur’s Cottage is a lovely light, bright former fisherman’s cottage in the heart of Whitstable. Harbour Street with its independent boutique shops, artisan traders, cafes and restaurants is just a few hundred yards away, with the beach and harbour a short walk beyond. On the ground floor is a sociable open plan sitting / dining room, with a door to the garden, and off this is the stylish kitchen and shower room. Upstairs are two lovely bedrooms, one ensuite. The garden is decked and is a great space to relax and unwind after a busy day exploring this historic fishing town. Whitstable is a vibrant and buzzing seaside town, full of history and charm with a working harbour and fish market. It has a thriving art scene with lots of galleries showing the work of local artists, a great live music scene in the local pubs and some great cafes and restaurants serving contemporary dishes including of course oysters which made Whitstable famous.

"Very comfortable stay at Arthur's Cottage. Thank you!"

D Cornwell, Sep 2023

"Loved our stay in Arthur's Cottage! Beautiful decor and furnishings, very clean, comfy beds with thoughtful added touches that made for as enjoyable stay.
For once we abandoned the car (didn't ant to loose our parking space!) and really enjoyed exploring the area on foot, by bus and by train. Whitstable is well connected and easily accessible.
Places of interest included The Shell Grotto in Margate, sitting and swimming at the Heartstopper beach location of Herne Bay and the magnificent Canterbury Cathedral.
The delights of Whitstable - visiting independent shops, The Harbour (especially at the weekend), The Lobster Shack, oysters from The Forge, ice cream from Bears and Morelli's and coffee from The Larder.
Another highlight was walking along the harbour and the beach, finishing with a drink whilst watching the sunset at The Old Neptune.
Thank you Arthur's Cottage and Whitstable for a memorable holiday!"

Andrew & The Family, Aug 2023

Local Information

It is not surprising that Whitstable, with its working harbour, quaint high street, famous oyster trade and sweeping beaches has become a firm favourite holiday destination. While there is plenty to see and do in Whitstable itself, the fact that it is day-trippable from London – with great rail links – and walkable from Canterbury is an added bonus. And then there’s Herne Bay and Reculver Towers and Roman Fort just a couple of miles east, making Whitstable a great base to explore more of Kent, otherwise known as “the Garden of England”.

And on top of the beaches and amusements common to many coastal towns, this part of north Kent is packed with indoor and outdoor kids activities – for any fans of wildlife, it is a must with no less than three animal parks!
