A stones throw from the buzzing artisan high street with its delis, cafes, boutique shops and lively bars. The promenade and beach are just a stroll away. The property has been lovingly restored to offer a mixture of old and new, with a fabulous courtyard garden. A king size bedroom and cosy log burner in the sitting room makes Cow and Cockle Cottage the perfect holiday home all year round. This romantic cottage is perfect for couples. The location is very close to the high street, with its artisan food shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants, and is also just minutes from the lovely long seafront promenade and pier. For guests who prefer country walks and historic sites, there’s plenty of choice nearby, including both Deal and Walmer castles, and a fabulous coastal walk to Kingsdown and St Margarets Bay. Golfers are spoilt for choice with the local clubs of Royal Cinque Ports and Walmer & Kingsdown golf clubs.

Entrance is via the front door and into the sitting room.

Bright and spacious sitting room with sofa, armchair, Smart TV and wood burner.

A small but fully equipped kitchen with two bar stools and everything you need for home cooking. Electric hob and oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge/freezer.

Delightful courtyard garden with a seating area. Shed with washing machine and tumble dryer.

Sleeps 2 in king size bed with two side tables, lamps and wardrobe space.

With shower, WC and hand basin, and wall mounted hair dryer.

The bedroom is on the first floor. Please note that the stairs are steep, and although there is a handrail, this cottage is not suitable for those with mobility issues or small children.

There is no private parking at this property. However, there is free on street parking is available a short walk from the cottage. Two hour paid parking bays outside the cottage for unloading.

Frequently Asked Questions

Despite there being no private parking space, the parking is relatively easy at this property. There is parking right outside the house, which you can use for 2 hours. There are also neighbouring roads which offer the same time restricted parking options. If you would like to explore free parking options you can do so along the seafront (past the rowing club) and on residential roads from Alfred Square onwards. Depending on where you find a space, it shouldn't take you longer than 5 - 10 minutes to walk back to the property.

Yes, there is a really sweet courtyard garden to the back of the property. There's a little table and chairs which catch the sun in the evenings making it the perfect for a drink in the summers sun at the end of a long day at the beach.

This property is not pet friendly. It's ideal for couples, or singles who want to explore Deal and visit the Kent Coast.

Perfect little cottage for a couple looking for a weekend in Deal. Well equipped, clean and comfortable. Close to high st and all the shops and restaurants, and just round the corner from our new favourite pub The Deal Hoy! Next time we get the chance we’ll be back!

The Cow and Cockle is quirky and bijou as stated. We stayed for a week and to be honest it was a bit too small for us having been used to a larger property hence the title of my review. The house is well equipped with everything that we expected and I enjoyed sitting in the courtyard garden except when the pub down the road had a karaoke evening! The location of this proprty is ideal for exploring all of the delights of Deal and handy for shopping. You are literally just round hte corner from the Saturday market and high st. The bed was comfy, great towels. We had a few issues with the fridge and then the electricity going off on the last morning, which were dealt with efficiently by Keepers Cottages. Be aware if you have mobility issues, then this place is not for you as the stairs are steep and narrow - this is pretty obvious from the description, but in case you misssed it.

It was a very cute cozy house on a quiet street yet very close to the main street! In particular, I loved the garden nook with the table and chair to sit at. The instructions were clear and the house was exactly as advertised!

The cottage was excellent, offering all that we needed.* Central location *Easy access *Very comfortable *Excellent decor *All fixtures and fittings of a quality standard. *Very comfortable bed . (Only thing we missed were some smaller coffee cups and a scoop for measuring coffee for the cafetaire) We would certainly stay here again should we be in Deal.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cow and Cockle cottage over the New Year period.The cottage was perfect for our needs - it was well equipped, clean, warm and cosy. Set within the historic conservation area, it was close to a selection of lovely pubs, cafes and eateries, Deal train station, supermarkets, the beach etc..As well as enjoying taking the train to Margate, Ramsgate and Canterbury, there is so much to see and do locally even in the December/January. Particular highlights for us included walking to Walmer Castle and Gardens, visiting Deal Timeball Tower and seeing the timeball being raised and lowered on New Years Eve, brunch at the lovely Deal Pier Cafe, drinks at the Deal Ahoy pub, Le Panadier Wine shop and bar.Deal has so much to offer, we would love to revisit.A special thank you to Finders Keepers and the owners of the property who were extremely helpful.

The cottage exceeded our expectations. It was compact but perfectly formed! We went to some fabulous restaurants within walking distance of the cottage, and really enjoyed Deal and the surrounding area.

Always happy to come back. This is already our third stay here. Everything you need is provided. We even discovered the second bar stool for the kitchen this time, which we had always wished for.

The location was amazing and the cottage was super clean and decorated really nicely. It was a lot smaller than the photos showed (I always expect photos will exaggerate but the place was tiny). The bed was very uncomfortable, to the point that I had to leave a night early because I couldn't get to sleep which is very unusual for me. There was a terrible smell of damp in the cottage, which also stopped me being there regularly, despite booking it to get work done. Despite the fantastic location and lovely style of the cottage, I wouldn't stay again and really would expect to be refunded for the final night, as the smell and bed really ruined the experience.

Lovely little cottage for a brief snug getaway from the bustle of work.and daily life. Deal is a dear little, well meaning, emerging gem on the East Kent coast and this cottage has all you need for fish and chips, long walks and quality pints by the sea.Furnishings, finish and fixtures are all great at cow and cockle cottage. Everything we needed was to hand, well selected and as expected. Loved the little welcome presents too.Four small issues for us. These are all very small, but might be helpful for future bookings.1) I may have missed it in all the info, but it would have been great to know that a cat lives or lived for a while in the cottage. My wife's allergies went haywire, despite the clear and derailed cleaning. If wed known she would.have packed all her meds 2) I think it could be useful and fair to make bookings aware of the closed up nature of the town on mondays-wednesdays. We know Deal quite well, but we're still surprised in a half term week just how little was open. 3) Stairs are an effort. Im not old, but my knees are weak. Again, I may have missed it, and effort has been made to mitigate, but again, I think it would be fair and useful to know just how steep, twisty and tricky they are to get up. I was crawling up and precarious coming down. 4)the shower tray filled up very quickly. Less observant people, who took longer showers would have flooded the bathroom.

Sweet cottage for two .. three would be a bit of a squash cosy , great location, everything you need is there .. very narrow steep stairs with a rope handle so not for everyone but loved our stay .. would come again !

We stayed in Deal for personal reasons, and the Cow and Cockle acted as an amazing home base for our travels in the region. We were amazed at how cozy the cottage was, and it provided everything we needed for cooking meals, planning adventures and a great nights sleep.On our last day we managed to lock ourselves out of the property, and the staff at Keepers Cottages were very quick to respond and were extremely helpful in getting us back in to the property promptly. Extremely relieving that they were there to help us get back to what we were ultimately there to do: rest and relax!We loved our time in Deal, and the team at Keepers Cottages provided us with an experience that we will remember for a lifetime.

The cottage had everything you needed for two and welcome gesture was also very thoughtful. We had never been to Deal and was extremely pleased we picked it, also cottage was in a very ideal position to all amenities from shops, beaches, pubs cafes all on your doorstep. At the weekend all the pubs had live bands playing music and one evening we travelled round them them listening to the different groups ( actually we were on our way home and ended up being out all evening) We also enjoyed the walks along the coast and will definitely visit Deal again, also had no problems with the parking for the cottage.

Deal

Cow & Cockle enjoys a great spot on West Street, just a short stroll from Deal’s High Street, seafront and the much-loved Saturday market at Union Road. The Deal Hoy is also nearby for a relaxed drink, and there is convenient parking close by, making it easy to arrive and explore this lovely part of town. West Street is one of Deal’s most characterful pockets, lined with handsome period buildings and just moments from the independent shops, cafés and restaurants of the town centre. On Saturdays, the nearby market at Union Road brings an extra sense of life to the area, with locals and visitors browsing for fresh produce, flowers and antiques. The seafront is only a short walk away, ideal for morning coffee strolls or an evening by the beach, and The Deal Hoy is close by if you fancy a traditional pub atmosphere. There is also convenient parking nearby, making Cow & Cockle a well-placed base for enjoying Deal on foot.
