Steeped in history and surrounded by some of Kent’s most beautiful coastline, this corner of East Kent offers plenty of options for days out. Start in Sandwich, one of England’s best preserved medieval towns, where timber framed buildings, winding lanes and the River Stour set the scene for slow wanders. Its independent shops, cafés and welcoming pubs make it an easy place to spend an afternoon. Just along the coast lies Deal, with its long shingle beach, award winning High Street and famous pier. Deal is a lively, creative seaside town with something for everyone, from artisan bakeries and galleries to weekend markets.
Continue further along the shore to Kingsdown, a charming village where pretty beach huts sit against chalk cliffs and coastal paths lead you towards St Margaret’s Bay. From here, walkers can join one of the most iconic routes in the country: the White Cliffs of Dover. The panoramic sea views, crisp sea air and chalk landscape make it a must visit for nature lovers.
Families are spoilt for choice too. White Mill Aqua Park in Sandwich offers an inflatable obstacle course and water based fun for all ages, while Betteshanger Park near Deal is packed with adventure activities, from cycling trails and play areas to fossil hunting and forest walks. Whether you are seeking history, coastline, adventure or simply a memorable day out, this wonderful stretch of Kent has something to enjoy in every season.
