Very much so. Church Path is accessed directly from the courtyard and leads to open fields within seconds, making early morning and evening walks easy. There are also miles of countryside footpaths nearby, while Deal Beach welcomes dogs on many sections throughout the year. Walmer and Kingsdown are dog friendly all year round. Yes. Three Championship courses are on your doorstep. Royal Cinque Ports is around five minutes away by car, while Royal St George's and Prince's Golf Club are both within ten minutes, making this an excellent base for a golfing holiday.
The Artists' House sits in Upper Deal, a quieter part of town, with a history that runs deep. Long before the seafront grew into the Deal we know today, Upper Deal was the original village, and parts of this building are believed to date back to the sixteenth century. It served as a working bakery for many years, and is said to have been a convalescent home for injured naval officers during the First World War. That sense of layered history is part of what makes a stay here feel special. While the setting is peaceful, you are well placed to enjoy everything Deal is loved for. The wonderful walks can take you westwards along the seafront from Deal to Walmer, Kingsdown and for the fearless up to the Cliffs to St Margaret's Bay and on to Dover. Driving or walking East from Deal takes you to Sandown Castle and on to Sandwich. Pegwell Bay is just beyond Sandwich and is a wonderful nature reserve for bird waters or seal watchers. Dogs do need to be on a lead for walking along the cliffs. Deal has built a real reputation for its food scene, with favourites including The Rose, 81 Beach Street and The Blue Pelican. Keen golfers will love being a five-minute drive from the championship Royal Cinque Ports Golf Course, one of the country's finest links. There is plenty more within easy reach. The medieval town of Sandwich is only ten minutes away, with riverside walks and historic streets, while Canterbury and its world famous cathedral are around thirty five minutes by car. History lovers will enjoy Deal Castle and nearby Walmer Castle and Gardens, and the coastal paths towards Kingsdown and Sandwich Bay offer wide skies and scenic walks. Deal railway station provides direct services to London in just over an hour and a half, making The Artists' House a wonderful base for short breaks or longer creative escapes in Kent.
