The Writer’s Cottage
Welcome to The Writer's Cottage, a charming, period, three-storey cottage located just off the vibrant high street of Deal. This tastefully decorated, coastal cottage would suit couples, or a family looking for a centrally located base for a trip to Deal. The pallet of soft white walls, exposed beams, wooden floors and soft carpets in the bedrooms, give the house a homely, easy-going feel which will suit most guests looking for a relaxed location to unwind. Arranged over three floors, there are two double bedrooms and a cloakroom with WC/ handbasin on the first floor. The large, bright reception room and relaxed dining room are on the ground floor, the spacious kitchen and attractive bathroom with a standalone roll top bath and shower, are located on the lower ground floor. The property has a deceptively large, and very attractive rear garden. Access to the garden is via the lower-ground floor, however the addition of French doors and a pretty Juliette-style balcony in the dining room, allows you to enjoy the lovely garden vista from the ground floor. The bright kitchen is equipped with everything you need to prepare meals during your stay, whether you choose to eat in the cosy dining room during colder months, or in the beautiful garden with its choice of seating, in the warmer months. This cosy coastal cottage is also dog friendly, meaning no one needs to miss out on the fun.

Living Room
Step through the front door and into the charming reception room with wooden floors and soft grey sofas. There is a TV, music system with blue tooth speakers.The light decor and exposed beams give the space a historical, yet cosy feel.
The relaxed dining room with wooden table and chairs to comfortably seat 6 people, has French doors with a Juliette style balcony, which allow a beautiful view of the garden and add to the feeling of space in this open-plan room.
Kitchen
Stairs lead you down to a large, Mediterranean-style kitchen, which has painted built in cupboards, pretty tiles and a useful breakfast bar with high stools to perhaps enjoy a morning coffee. The fully equipped kitchen has an ample supply of glass, chinaware and cooking equipment. There is a dishwasher, microwave, and a gas hob with oven under.
Bathroom
Bathroom with a standalone roll top bath and a separate shower, basin and WC.
Bedroom One
This bedroom has an attractive street view, twin beds with beautifully upholstered, large headboards, ample storage and soft carpets.
Cloakroom
The cloakroom is located next door to the master bedroom and has a WC and handbasin.
Bedroom Two
Bedroom two is located at the rear of the house with a pretty annexed ceiling and exposed beams. There is a large double-size wooden-framed bed, generous storage and subtle lighting. This cosy bedroom continues the same fresh, modern approach which flows through this lovely home.
The garden is a really lovely large sunny area. There is a paved area with garden furniture and the rest is laid to lawn.

- Fan available. There are two sets of double doors that open and windows in the bedrooms, which keeps the house cool during a heatwave. The garden also has a shaded area under the pergola with a grape vine.

- Please note check out is 10am. Please ensure you vacate on time to allow our housekeepers to enter the property and prepare it for the next guests.
- Smoking or vaping is not permitted inside or outside the property at any time. Please no charging of vapes or e-scooters.
- Please note for insurance purposes the number of guests must not exceed the total occupancy of the house.
- For fire safety reasons please do not use any candles in the property.
- Please be respectful to neighbours. Quiet hours are between 11pm and 9am.
- Parties and loud music are not permitted.

Deal
Union Road is located just off Deal High Street, an ideal location to base yourself for a trip to Deal & the surrounding areas. The stunning Deal seafront with it's iconic pier, is a short five minutes stroll away
Deal train station is just a few minutes’ walk away & the hi-speed train takes just one hour and twenty minutes (approximately) to travel to & from St Pancras International.
The high street has everything you might need during your stay, the North end has various independent cafes, coffee shops, galleries & stylish stores, selling unique gifts & homewares. The South end of the High Street, has many of the bigger high-street names, alongside two traditional fruit & vegetable shops, two butcher shops, two chemists & various other suppliers offering a range of products.
Wander into town, which is steeped in history and tales of smuggling, with two impressive castles to visit, the newly opened museum of moving images and time ball tower, you will not be lost for things to do.
Enjoy a drink in one of the many coffee shops, hire a bike and cycle along the promenade which stretches towards Sandwich in one direction or Kingsdown in the other. If walking is more your thing, then take a walk across the cliffs towards Dover. The sandy beaches of Ramsgate and Broadstairs are within an easy drive.
The stunning pebble beach is an approximate five minutes’ walk from Union Road & is the perfect spot to relax, enjoy a picnic or take a dip with spectacular views of Deal's famous brutalist pier and the English Channel. On a clear day you can even see France!
There is a popular market on Saturdays which sells everything from French wine & cheese, (you can even sit sample a glass or two!)There is a coffee stall, artisan bakers, international foods, vintage clothing & antiques. As well as this you can buy locally sourced fruit, vegetables and flowers. The market is a great social gathering point and a must during your stay in Deal.

A show at the Astor Theatre
An Edwardian arts centre on Stanhope Road with a varied programme of music, theatre and film. A good one for an evening in Deal, whatever the weather, and full of local spirit.
Timeball Tower Museum
A Victorian signalling tower on the seafront, where the timeball still drops on the hour. Four floors of maritime history and smuggling tales, plus views from the top.
The Pop Up Cafe
Spread across a few knocked-together shopfronts on the High Street, The Pop Up Cafe serves homemade sourdough, cheese scones and seasonally changing soups – not to mention some of the best coffee in town!
The Pelican Rooms
A hidden gem tucked above The Blue Pelican on Beach Street, The Pelican Rooms offers facials, massage treatments and so much more in the wellness space. A good one to know for a slower morning in Deal.
Bygga Bo
A little taste of Sweden at Deal’s Saturday market. Bygga Bo bakes cinnamon buns and Fika treats that draw a queue before the stalls have properly opened. A Keepers favourite!
Deal Pier
Kent’s last surviving leisure pier, opened by the Duke of Edinburgh in 1957. Walk its length for sea views, cast a line, or stop at Deal Pier Kitchen at the far end. On a clear day you can see France.
Cycle to Kingsdown
Take the flat coastal path from Deal to Kingsdown, ideal for walking or cycling. Pass Walmer Castle & Gardens, explore Kingsdown’s beautiful beaches and seafront, including The Zetland Arms. Hire bikes locally from Hut 55.

Deal Castle
Deal has not one but three Tudor castles built by Henry VIII, namely Deal, Walmer and Sandown. The first two you can visit whilst Sandown (of which only a few stones remain) is on the cycle path that follows the coast.
