Deal, Kent
Upon entering the property you step into the entrance hall leading into the sitting room, housing a wood burner, TV, a large three seater sofa and a comfortable winged-chair.
A step down takes you into a light extendable dining room with seating for six and a large window overlooking the pretty garden at the rear.
A new, well equipped, kitchen with an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave and a cream Smeg fridge which has a small icebox. Wooden worktops and baskets give it a cottage-y feel with two dressers housing all the pretty crockery.
From the sitting room there is a door which opens to a winding staircase taking you to the:
A good-sized bedroom at the front of the house with two large single beds that can also be zipped together to make another double if required. Built in cupboards house plenty of hanging space.
Step down from the landing into a large bathroom in the eaves at the back of the property with a lovely rolltop bath and a large drench shower over. There is also an airing cupboard housing the washing machine and boiler in this room.
A lovely light double bedroom in the eaves with sea views to one side and views of the street on the other. Again this bedroom has been beautifully decorated and has built in cupboard space for clothes.
There is a very sweet little courtyard garden, with table and chairs for up to 4 guests to sit outside. There is also a side gate so you can access Middle Street directly.
There is no direct parking at the house, but there is free parking very nearby along Sandown Road or College Road. There is also parking along the seafront.
The cottage is very classic of a fisherman's cottage, and so the stairs are very steep. The bathroom and bedrooms are located on the first and second floor, via wooden stairs with a rope handrail attached to the wall.
Please note that this property no longer has a sofa bed option.
The Old Smoke House is a wonderfully quirky, old property full of character, with steep stairs and low ceilings throughout. Please bear this in mind when booking, particularly if travelling with young children or anyone less steady on their feet.
Yes, there is no direct or private parking at the property, however, there is ample parking options nearby. Please note that you can double park along Middle Street to unload the car on arrival. There is time restricted parking (2 hours) in Alfred Square, and free parking along Sandown Road and College Road. You can also park along the seafront and pay for this using Ringo, and if you keep going past the Rowing Club, the parking becomes free.
Yes, the high street is very close by and you can walk there within a couple of minutes. The quickest way to get to the High Street, is to walk down Alfred Square and take a left at the end.
No, but there is a cafetiere at the cottage so do bring ground coffee. There is great coffee along Deal High Street, and our top recommendations would include Hope and Lane, Climpson and Sons and The Pop Up Cafe.
Middle Street is the heart of Deal's Conservation area and runs parallel with the seafront. This property is just a minutes walk from the beach and you even have sea views from the second floor bedroom. The Old Smoke House is also very conveniently located for access to the town with two very popular pubs within a minutes walk in either direction from the front door and the main town centre five minutes walk away.
