Whitstable

Oyster Bay is wonderfully placed for enjoying Whitstable, with the town centre and beach both within easy walking distance. This much loved Kent seaside town is known for its characterful streets, independent shops, excellent food and strong maritime heritage, making it just as appealing for a weekend escape as a longer stay. Spend the morning wandering through Whitstable’s colourful streets and browsing its independent boutiques, galleries and delis, before heading towards the sea for a walk along the shingle shoreline. Seafood is, of course, a highlight here, and the town has a fantastic choice of restaurants, pubs and cafés, from relaxed places for coffee and brunch to some wonderful spots for dinner. Whitstable is a joy to explore on foot, with its narrow lanes, traditional cottages and glimpses of the sea giving the town its distinctive charm. From Oyster Bay, it is easy to leave the car behind and enjoy days spent pottering between the shops, seafront and some of the town’s many places to eat and drink, before returning to your own cosy cottage at the end of the day.
