Valentine’s House
Valentine’s House is a charming holiday home in the heart of the conservation area of the pretty Georgian town of Deal. The house has a rich history and has been named after one of the first residents Valentine Myhill, who was living in the house in 1841. The son of a prestigious Cinque Ports Pilot, he unfortunately lost both his parents at a young age and went to sea at the age of 15. The full story of his life and the other residents of the house has been left for guests who enjoy history.The house is still full of character but has been transformed into a stylish and comfortable holiday home with a mid-century feel. Set over four floors, the house has three spacious bedrooms, each with blackout blinds, lined curtains and comfortable mattresses for the best nights sleep. There are also two bathrooms and a downstairs toilet. The star attraction of the house is the fabulous roof terrace with fantastic views across the rooftops of the Conservation area. Situated in a quiet side street just 2 minutes walk from the main promenade and beach, Valentine’s House is also just a few yards from the buzzing high street with its delis, boutique shops, antiques shops, cafes and restaurants.Deal Castle and the Pier are only a 5 minutes stroll along the promenade and further coastal walking takes you through Walmer and Kingsdown to the lovely Zetland Arms, one of the few UK public houses on a beach, with views of the iconic white cliffs. Walking in the other direction along the coast you will walk past some of the most prestigious links golf courses in England and almost deserted beaches.

- Like many of the houses in the Conservation area the house has steep stairs and rope balustrades, so it may not be suitable for individuals with reduced mobility.
- The roof terrace has railings enclosing it at 1.5m for safety. There is also a secure lock box for accessing the keys to the roof terrace.Towels and linen are provided
- Full fibre broadband with signal boosters on lower ground, first and second floors to ensure good coverage throughout.
- One well behaved dog is very welcome.
- 42 inch TV with sound bar and there is separate Sonos Bluetooth music dock
- All the bedroom windows have blackout blinds and elegant fully lined curtains
- Alongside the full central heating there is an additional gas fire in the lounge and a stylish electric Everhot heater in the basement TV room to ensure instant heat on cold days
- Cot and highchair available on request for little ones, please note that cot linen is not provided
- Please note that there are three pedestal fans (one for each bedroom) for guests to use throughout their stay
- A starter pack of sundries are provided such as toilet rolls, hand soaps, washing up equipment. You may wish to bring more for your self catering holiday, especially if staying for over a week
- We would respectfully ask that the following house rules are adhered to, to avoid any damages. Should any damages arise please note that charges may apply.
- Please note check out is 10am. Please ensure you vacate on time to allow our housekeepers to enter the property and prepare it for the next guests.
- Smoking or vaping are not permitted in the property at any time.
- Please note for insurance purposes the number of guests must not exceed the total occupancy of the house.
- For fire safety reasons please do not use any candles in the property, no charging of e-scooters or e-cigarettes.
- Please be respectful to neighbours. Quiet hours are between 11pm and 9am.
- Parties and loud music are not permitted at any time.

Deal
Valentine’s House is set in Deal, offering a warm and inviting base for enjoying one of Kent’s most characterful seaside towns. The seafront is within easy reach, making morning walks by the sea or gentle evening strolls along the promenade part of daily life. This part of Deal feels relaxed and welcoming, with the town’s easy coastal rhythm unfolding naturally around you.
Deal’s elegant Georgian streets lead you straight into the heart of town, where the award-winning high street is filled with independent shops, antiques dealers, bakeries, butchers and local delis. Cafés, wine bars and friendly pubs are scattered throughout, creating plenty of places to linger. Seafront restaurants line the promenade, while Deal Pier remains a classic focal point for sea views and quiet moments over the water. Deal Castle and Walmer Castle add layers of history just beyond the town centre, with award-winning gardens they are a must visit.
For exploring further, coastal paths stretch north towards Sandwich Bay or south to Kingsdown, offering wide skies and scenic routes for walking or cycling. Deal railway station provides direct services to London in just over an hour and a half, making Valentine’s House an ideal choice for both short breaks and longer stays enjoying the charm and coastline of Deal.

An Edwardian arts centre on Stanhope Road with a varied programme of music, theatre and film. A good one for an evening in Deal, whatever the weather, and full of local spirit.
Timeball Tower Museum
A Victorian signalling tower on the seafront, where the timeball still drops on the hour. Four floors of maritime history and smuggling tales, plus views from the top.
The Pop Up Cafe
Spread across a few knocked-together shopfronts on the High Street, The Pop Up Cafe serves homemade sourdough, cheese scones and seasonally changing soups – not to mention some of the best coffee in town!
The Pelican Rooms
A hidden gem tucked above The Blue Pelican on Beach Street, The Pelican Rooms offers facials, massage treatments and so much more in the wellness space. A good one to know for a slower morning in Deal.
Bygga Bo
A little taste of Sweden at Deal’s Saturday market. Bygga Bo bakes cinnamon buns and Fika treats that draw a queue before the stalls have properly opened. A Keepers favourite!
Deal Pier
Kent’s last surviving leisure pier, opened by the Duke of Edinburgh in 1957. Walk its length for sea views, cast a line, or stop at Deal Pier Kitchen at the far end. On a clear day you can see France.
Cycle to Kingsdown
Take the flat coastal path from Deal to Kingsdown, ideal for walking or cycling. Pass Walmer Castle & Gardens, explore Kingsdown’s beautiful beaches and seafront, including The Zetland Arms. Hire bikes locally from Hut 55.

Kent boasts championship links golf at Royal St George’s, host of The Open, alongside Prince’s Golf Club, Walmer & Kingsdown and Royal Cinque Ports, offering world-class coastal courses and sweeping sea views.
Deal Castle
Deal has not one but three Tudor castles built by Henry VIII, namely Deal, Walmer and Sandown. The first two you can visit whilst Sandown (of which only a few stones remain) is on the cycle path that follows the coast.
