Bowden Lodge is a fabulous converted flint stone barn, nestled in expansive gardens and grounds. While the house has retained much of its rustic charm- with exposed brickwork and wooden beams, it has also gained a few modern touches with the addition of large TVs, luxurious bathrooms, a games room and an outdoor swimming pool, available in the summer months. Sleeping up to 12 guests in 6 bedrooms, there is plenty of room for the whole family or a large group of friends. There will be no waiting for the shower in the morning, as most of the bedrooms have en suites, and a family bathroom is also on hand with a large bath and walk in power shower. Situated in the pretty village of Kingsdown, the house is just a short walk away from the beach, where you’ll find views of the White Cliffs, beach huts and seafood at the local pub. Stroll along the coastal path to Deal, for boutique shops, markets and restaurants. The golf club is on your doorstep too for keen golfers.
Please be aware that the kitchen / utility was renovated in January 2026, and we are awaiting updated photos. The utility no longer has a double oven and fridge/freezer. In the main kitchen, the Aga has been replaced with a brand new Range Cooker and electric hob.

Well equipped large farmhouse style kitchen with table and chairs at one end. Kitchen is well equipped with a range cooker and electric hob, Nespresso (small pod) coffee machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer.

Boot room with bench seating, coat and shoe storage. There is a small utility area with a sink, kitchen cupboard space and microwave.

A wonderful large garden with a secluded swimming pool (open 1st June - 31st August), triple open cart bay garage, stable block and two stables. Weber Gas BBQ available upon request for an additional cost. For the swimming pool opening times, please see the finer details below.

There is a ground floor bedroom/bathroom but the house has not been specifically set up for wheelchair / accessibility needs. There are steps down to the front and side door. There are also a couple of steps into the sitting room on the ground floor.

There is a large tarmac driveway and car port.

Bed linen and towels are provided.
Infant friendly- there is 1 travel cot and 1 highchair available on request (please bring your own linen for the travel cot, as this are not provided)
Dog friendly - up to 2 well behaved dogs are welcome for an additional charge of £25 per dog.
This property has a sloping tarmac driveway with parking for up to 4 vehicles.
Wood burner is located in reception room
Terrace area with table, chairs, parasol and large gas BBQ (available in the summer months).
Outside swimming pool - Please kindly note that the pool closes August 31st and re-opens June 1st. The opening of the pool is very weather dependant, and please feel free to get in touch with our team if you have any questions about the opening times of the swimming pool.
Please note there are neighbours close by so we ask that you respect their privacy, peace and quiet.
A starter pack of sundries (toilet rolls, sponges, dishcloths, dishwasher tablets, hand soap and washing up liquid) are provided but you may wish to bring more if you are staying for over a week.

We would respectfully ask that the following house rules are adhered to, to avoid any damages to our beautiful holiday home. Should any damages arise please note charges may be taken from your security deposit.
Smoking is not permitted in the property at any time.
Please note for insurance purposes the number of guests must not exceed the total occupancy of the house.
For fire safety reasons please do not use any candles in the property.
Please note quiet hours are between 11pm and 9am. Please be respectful to neighbours.
Parties and loud music are not permitted.
Guests must not use Blu Tack and or Selotape on any of the walls to hang decorations/banners.
Please ensure that the BBQ is cleaned on your departure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes - up to two dogs are very welcome, for an additional charge of £25 per dog per stay. Dog owners should be aware that there is a swimming pool which is not fenced off, and a small pond area.

Bowden Lodge is a 5 minute walk (0.3 miles) away from Kingsdown beach.

The outdoor swimming pool is open from 1st June to 31st August, and is heated during this time.

There are 6 bedrooms in total: 1 King size bed, 4 double beds, 1 twin room with 2 single beds.
The ground floor bedroom is a double bed and the remaining bedrooms are all upstairs on the first floor.

Another amazing two weeks with family and friends making wondering memories!

We were a family of 6 adults and 5 children, age range 15 years to 5 years. The property was very much as described in the brochure, and was ideal for us. In particular, the bedrooms are well set out, and there are more than enough bathrooms to go round. Also, the property is very well equipped and is designed to cater for large groups.We did have one serious problem in that the swimming pool water on our arrival was green and opaque, and not suitable for swimming. We phoned Keepers Cottages, and they arranged for the pool maintenance engineer to call the next morning, The issue was quickly resolved in time not to impact seriously upon our break. We were fortunate with the weather, and made good use of the excellent BBQ and the outside and sheltered seating. We explored very little of the surrounding area, simply because it was so attractive to spend time at the house and pool, but there are many local attractions in this part of Kent for anyone wishing to explore.

Bowden Lodge was the perfect property for our family get together of four generations. Having a downstairs bedroom with en suite and easy access to the living room and games room which in turn had easy access to the wonderful garden was ideal for our 96 year old great Nan The enormous garden was enjoyed by everyone for ball games, sitting and chatting and barbecuing in the evening. We had fantastic weather which was a bonus. Short walk to the beach and local pubs meant driving could be kept to a minimum. Highly recommend and would love to return when the pool is in use.

Very easy booking online, with all relevant info being made readily available

Bowden Lodge is a great property for a group booking. It was rather tricky to find with the instructions provided, it might be a good idea to provide additionally what3words location finder.The beds were comfortable and the living space is exceptional.The aga was not on / working but there is a second kitchen that you can cook in, it's just less social cooking. The property could also benefit from more shoe space / coat rails. A boot room would be ideal.Was great to have a games room and the kids could be desperate from the adults. We enjoyed games time all together though,a lot of fun.Finally the 2 of the showers had errors on the electric shower function. Instructions on how to use and fix the showers would be beneficial.Overall a super lovely stay and we worked around any faults mentioned above. It didn't prevent us having fun!

Amazing house in a lovely location, only a few minutes walk from the beach. House was lovely & perfect for a group trip. The beds were all comfortable with excellent linens. We did have a few teething problems with the house (a manual would definitely help here) but Keepers Cottages did a great job communicating with us.

I booked Bowden Lodge to celebrate my 50th with all my family, I wanted somewhere that we could all be comfortable with plenty of space with enough bedrooms and bathrooms for all. Well Bowden Lodge did not disappoint what an amazing place, clean, comfortable and huge and had everything there that we could possibly need. A great secure garden too which the dogs loved. The Games room was a big hit with all the family and kept us all entertained for hours. Wed certainly be happy to visit again maybe when the weather is better so we could use the outside pool.

Had a fabulous weekend with all the family celebrating my 50th and what a perfect place to celebrate. Stunning home which catered for all our needs. Thank you.

Lovely house for a family party. Great memories made.

We had a very nice few days, and were very comfortable, this is the second time that we stayed here. We noticed this time how tired the house is looking, the pool table needs a recover, two of the showers didnt work, the heating in the games room didnt work, we couldnt use one of the toilets. When I contacted the maintenance lady, she was very good, she helped me get one of the showers working and called a plumber out to sort the heating. I was impressed with her help, but there was just two meany things wrong in the first place.

The house is absolutely magnificent, the perfect house, garden and setting for a large group/family. Can't fault it, the house is a great size, there were12 adults and a dog in our group and we had plenty of space. Everything was amazing, we had the best time. Walkable to some amazing pubs and the beach. Already booked to go back again next year.

Kingsdown

Bowden Lodge is situated close to the village of Kingsdown which has local shops, pubs, and a golf course. The beach lies approximately 0.3 miles away and there is good access on to the National Cycle Route one as well to the bridle paths and footpaths which lead to the Downs via quiet unadopted tracks close to the property. Deal town centre provides further facilities and the neighbouring towns of Sandwich, Dover and Canterbury are easily accessed via the A2 and A258 and together provide a comprehensive range of services. Railway stations at Deal and Walmer provide connections to Ramsgate, Sandwich, Dover and London. The High Speed service runs from Dover Priory to London St. Pancras in just over an hour. The area has good access to the continent as Dover is only approximately five miles away.
