As the most wonderful time of the year approaches, we can’t help but get excited about the dazzling lights, and festive fun. From Santa’s grottos, Christmas markets and enchanting light trails, there’s something for every member of the family to enjoy. We’ve rounded up our most magical things to do in the area whilst you’re staying at a Keepers Cottages property this festive season.
New for 2023 is the Walmer Enchanted Christmas Light Trail at Walmer Castle. In association with English Heritage and Kilimanjaro Live, the interactive light trail is a festive evening bringing plenty of light, colour and fun to Walmer. There are surprises around every corner with festive food, warm cocktails and plenty of Christmas cheer, which the whole family will enjoy. Running from 1st December 2023 – 1st January 2024, tickets start from £21.95 for a family of four.
Get all of the family and embark on Betteshanger Park’s North Pole adventure which takes you on an immersive journey through the country park. Wander through the Candy Village as you make your way to see Father Christmas and his elves in his Grotto. The North Pole adventure starts from Sunday 25th November and runs until Sunday 24th December. Tickets start from £15 for a child, and £4 for an accompanying adult.
When you’re in Kent, you can’t beat a visit to Dreamland in Margate, one of Kent’s oldest seaside funfairs and amusement parks. This Christmas, discover Christmas World, taking place from Friday 15th – Friday 22nd December. All dressed up for Christmas, the kids can get involved with magical grotto experiences with Santa, take part in snowball fights and even ride in Santa’s snow mobile. For the adults, you can delight in ‘Steins by the Sea’ , a festive evening with a Bavarian twist. Tickets start from £16.80.
Looking to get cracking with the Christmas shopping? The Christmas Ramsgate Handmade and Vintage Fair will most certainly give you a head start. Discover local brands and suppliers and help support small businesses this year. After a mooch around the stalls you can delight in mulled wine whilst the kids meet Father Christmas and wait for the town’s Christmas lights to be switched on. Taking place on 26th November in Ramsgate’s town centre.
Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a pantomime. Get ready to shout ‘he’s behind you!’ whilst you watch Red Riding Hood at the Astor Theatre in Deal. This year is the theatre’s first year of the home produced pantomime where Local resident and Astor Board member Mig Kimpton will write and direct the production that will be set in the beautiful seaside town of Deal and will include all the fun, comedy and songs of a traditional pantomime. Taking place between 21st December – 6th January, make sure you book your tickets before they go! Tickets start from £22.50.
