Deal Braderie: Everything You Need to Know About Deal’s Biggest Street Market

16 July 2026

If you’re planning an escape to Kent this Autumn, there’s one event that’s well worth adding to your itinerary. Every September, the charming Georgian seaside town of Deal comes alive with the much-loved Deal Braderie, a bustling street market that attracts thousands of visitors from far and wide.

Whether you’re hunting for a special vintage find, browsing local crafts, or simply soaking up the lively atmosphere with a coffee in hand, the Braderie is one of the highlights of Deal’s annual calendar.

What is the Deal Braderie?

The Deal Braderie is an annual street market that transforms Deal’s town centre into a vibrant shopping destination. Organised by a group of local volunteers, working as a sub group under the Deal and Walmer Chamber of Trade. the event brings together local businesses, independent traders, charities, community groups and market stallholders for a day of shopping, entertainment and community spirit.

The word braderie comes from France and Belgium, where it traditionally refers to a large street market or clearance sale. Deal’s version has become a long standing local tradition and is a fantastic opportunity to explore one of Kent’s most popular coastal towns.

What to Expect & Planning Your Visit

This year, the Deal Braderie is set to take place on Sunday 13th September 2026 between 8-4pm. Entry is free, making it an affordable day out for families, couples or groups of friends.

One of the best things about the Braderie is that no two years are exactly the same. As you stroll through the town centre, you’ll discover a huge variety of stalls selling everything from:

  • Vintage treasures and antiques
  • Handmade gifts and local crafts
  • Jewellery and accessories
  • Homeware and artwork
  • Clothing and fashion
  • Books, toys and collectibles
  • Artisan food and local produce

Alongside the shopping, you’ll find plenty of independent cafés, pubs and restaurants open throughout the day, making it easy to stop for breakfast, lunch or a well earned afternoon treat.

As it’s one of Deal’s most popular annual events, we recommend arriving early to enjoy the best selection of stalls and allowing plenty of time to explore the town.

Top Tips for Visiting the Deal Braderie

With thousands of visitors expected throughout the day, a little planning goes a long way. Here are our top tips for making the most of your visit.

Deal railway station is just a short five-minute walk from the town centre, making the train one of the easiest ways to visit the Braderie. There are regular services from London St Pancras (via Ashford), London Victoria, Dover and Ramsgate, so you can avoid the queues for parking altogether.

If you’re driving to the event, aim to arrive early as the town centre gets busy quickly. Some roads will be closed or have restricted access while the market is taking place.

Parking is available at several public car parks within walking distance of the event, including:

  • Middle Street Car Park
  • St George’s Road Car Park
  • South Street Car Park
  • Deal Station Car Park
  • You can find free parking at the North end of Deal in roads such as College Road and Sandown Road

Be prepared for these to fill up early, particularly on sunny days.

You’ll be covering plenty of ground as you browse the stalls and explore Deal’s independent shops, cafés and seafront. Comfortable footwear is a must!

Many stallholders accept card payments, but some smaller traders may prefer cash, so it’s worth bringing both.

Why not make a weekend of it, and explore Deal properly. Get a group of friends together and rent one of our holiday homes in Deal. We have over 80 to choose from. Spend the weekend strolling along Deal seafront, wander down the iconic Pier, enjoy fish and chips by the beach, browse the independent boutiques or relax with a drink overlooking the sea. The Braderie is just one part of what makes Deal such a wonderful place to visit.
