Bowden Lodge is a fabulous converted flint stone barn, nestled in expansive gardens and grounds. While the house has retained much of its rustic charm- with exposed brickwork and wooden beams, it has also gained a few modern touches with the addition of large TVs, luxurious bathrooms, a games room and an outdoor swimming pool. Sleeping up to 12 guests in 6 bedrooms, there is plenty of room for the whole family or a large group of friends. There will be no waiting for the shower in the morning, as most of the bedrooms have en suites, and a family bathroom is also on hand with a large bath and walk in power shower. Situated in the pretty village of Kingsdown, the house is just a short walk away from the beach, where you’ll find views of the White Cliffs, beach huts and seafood at the local pub. Stroll along the coastal path to Deal, for boutique shops, markets and restaurants. The golf club is on your doorstep too for keen golfers.

"We had a brilliant weekend at Bowden Lodge. The customer service both before and during the stay was excellent (quick responses, useful local tips) and the property itself was perfect for our group. It was immaculate and kitchen was well-stocked with crockery etc. We loved the dining room and sitting room in particular. We were a group of adults but we can imagine it being perfect for a number of families too (2 sitting rooms, a separate dining room, main kitchen and smaller one off it). The garden is stunning and it felt very peaceful. The location was brilliant - 10 minute drive to Deal or (as our group did) a walk along the beautiful beach. I would highly recommend."

"Our party of 8 adults and 3 children spent the weekend at Bowden Lodge and cannot find fault with our stay. The building is beautiful, the layout is spacious and bright for big groups.

Keepers Cottage went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The place was immaculate, very clean and tidy. It felt more like a home than a holiday rental, everything was well maintained and cared for.

The location is great, very peaceful and tucked out of the way but a short walk to the beach and pubs which sell food."

A wonderful large garden with a secluded swimming pool, which is only open May - September (weather dependent), triple open cart bay garage, stable block and two stables. Weber Gas BBQ available upon request for an additional cost.

The Finer Details

  • Bed linen and towels are provided.
  • Infant friendly- there is 1 travel cot and 1 highchair available on request (please bring your own linen for the travel cot, as these are not provided)
  • Dog friendly - up to 2 well behaved dogs are welcome for an additional charge of £25 per dog. Please refer to your signed terms and conditions for our pet rules.
  • This property has a sloping tarmac driveway with parking for up to 4 vehicles.
  • Wood-burner is located in formal reception room – guests to supply own logs.
  • Terrace area with table, chairs, parasol and large gas BBQ (available in the summer months).
  • A supply of gas will be provided, please call us if you need this replenished.
  • Outside pool - Please kindly note that the pool closes at the end of September to end of May (weather dependent - please get in touch for more details).
  • Located in a quiet rural area. Please note there are neighbours close by so we ask that you respect their privacy, peace and quiet.
  • Disabled access is limited. Wheelchair access is via the sliding doors to the sitting room. The downstairs bedroom/bathroom and games room can be accessed via wheelchair but the house has not been specifically set up for this. Please note that the rest of the house is not wheelchair accessible. There are steps from the sitting room into the dining room/kitchen area.
  • Welcome pack is provided.
  • Please be aware that parties/events are not permitted at this property - there are neighbours very close by so no loud music is permitted at any time.

House Rules

  • We would respectfully ask that the following house rules are adhered to, to avoid any damages to our beautiful holiday home. Should any damages arise please note charges may be taken from your security deposit.
  • Smoking is not permitted in the property at any time.
  • Please note for insurance purposes the number of guests must not exceed the total occupancy of the house.
  • For fire safety reasons please do not use any candles in the property.
  • Please note quiet hours are between 11pm and 9am. Please be respectful to neighbours.
  • Parties and loud music are not permitted.
  • Guests must not use Blu Tack and or Selotape on any of the walls to hang party decorations/banners.



Local Information

Bowden Lodge is situated close to the village of Kingsdown which has local shops, pubs, and a golf course. The beach lies approximately 0.3 miles away and there is good access on to the National Cycle Route one as well to the bridle paths and footpaths which lead to the Downs via quiet unadopted tracks close to the property. Deal town centre provides further facilities and the neighbouring towns of Sandwich, Dover and Canterbury are easily accessed via the A2 and A258 and together provide a comprehensive range of services. Railway stations at Deal and Walmer provide connections to Ramsgate, Sandwich, Dover and London. The High Speed service runs from Dover Priory to London St. Pancras in just over an hour. The area has good access to the continent as Dover is only approximately five miles away.

Deal is a unique place, where coast meets country, country meets the town and England meets the Continent. Whatever the time of year, it's a great spot to savour some quality time and glimpse life from a bygone era. You'll find a wealth of independent, quirky shops open all year round, and every Saturday, in the centre of town, a lively market with stalls selling everything from antiques through to cheese and wine.
