Claire’s Cottage
Claire’s Cottage is an adorable, cosy cottage tucked away from the road in a small terrace of former workmen’s cottages built in the Victorian era. Now fully renovated but keeping its character and charm, the cottage is the perfect romantic break for couples, or the ideal quiet retreat for guests wanting to slow down and explore this lovely part of the Kent coastline.The ground floor has a compact and fully equipped kitchen and a cosy sitting room with a traditional fireplace and wood burner. Upstairs is the comfortable bedroom and shower room. The south facing garden is a real suntrap, to enjoy sunny summer days and warm evenings, and has a patio area to catch the early morning sun, and a bench under a wooden pergola at the end of the garden.Hythe is a great place for a holiday or short break. Full of history, the Royal Military Canal, built during Napoleon times, passes through the town and offers stunning canal walks and wildlife. Foodies will be spoilt for choice with the many seafood restaurants, and the popular Michelin star Hide and Fox restaurant is within walking distance (make sure to book in advance). Not to be missed is a trip on the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch miniature railway, great fun for all ages, which terminates at the Dungeness Nature Reserve and lighthouses. Further afield are the coastal towns of Sandgate and Folkestone, and the historic City of Canterbury.

Please note check out is 10am. Please ensure you vacate on time to allow our housekeepers to enter the property and prepare it for the next guests.

For fire safety reasons please do not use any candles in the property.

Claire’s Cottage is set in the charming coastal town of Hythe, offering a relaxed seaside atmosphere with a strong sense of history and community. The long seafront promenade and pebble beach are close by, perfect for gentle walks beside the water or pausing to watch the light shift across the English Channel. Hythe’s unhurried pace and flat layout make it easy to explore on foot, from shoreline to town centre.
The town is known for its attractive high street, lined with independent shops, cafés, delicatessens and traditional pubs. The Royal Military Canal runs quietly through Hythe, providing a peaceful walking route bordered by wildlife and greenery, while the historic Venetian-style tower of St Leonard’s Church is a distinctive local landmark. Food lovers will enjoy the mix of relaxed eateries and welcoming pubs, many using local Kentish produce.
For days out, the wider Kent coast is easily accessible, with Sandgate and Folkestone just along the shoreline, offering creative quarters, coastal parks and excellent dining. Inland, the countryside around the Kent Downs invites longer walks and cycling routes. Hythe is well connected, with nearby Folkestone offering high-speed rail services to London, making Claire’s Cottage a wonderful base for short breaks and longer stays exploring this scenic corner of Kent.
