Penny Farthing Cottage
Penny Farthing Cottage is an adorable, quirky, former bicycle store beautifully renovated into a stylish holiday home in the centre of the iconic coastal fishing town of Whitstable.Whilst this is two storey cottage, the interior design feels more like living in a loft style apartment with a high vaulted ceiling and a lovely large open plan living space in which to relax and socialise. On chillier days, the gorgeous large velvet sofa is perfect for TV watching, reading or listening to music, and the fully equipped kitchen has a wooden table and benches to enjoy home cooked meals or a takeaway from one of the many on offer in the town. On sunnier days, there is a pretty walled courtyard with a bistro table and chairs and a large wooden corner bench to relax on and enjoy the sunshine.Whitstable is a lively coastal town with a thriving arts and creative scene and lots of live music in the many pubs and cafes, including the famous Old Neptune on the beach which is only a short walk from the cottage. Take a stroll along the buzzing High Street and popular Harbour Street both with a wealth of independent and boutique shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs, and explore the fishing harbour to sample some delicious seafood. Further afield are the historic market town of Faversham and the medieval City of Canterbury.

- Please note check out is 10am. Please ensure you vacate on time to allow our housekeepers to enter the property and prepare it for the next guests.
- Smoking is not permitted in the property at any time.
- Please note for insurance purposes the number of guests must not exceed the total occupancy of the house.
- For fire safety reasons please do not use any candles in the property.
- Please be respectful to neighbours. Quiet hours are between 11pm and 9am.
- Parties and loud music are not permitted.

Whitstable
Penny Farthing Cottage is tucked away in Whitstable, offering a peaceful base within easy reach of this much-loved seaside town and its relaxed coastal rhythm. The beach and seafront are close by, perfect for gentle morning walks along the shore or lingering by the water as fishing boats move across the estuary. Whitstable’s compact layout makes it easy to explore on foot, with the town’s character revealed through its streets, harbour and shoreline.
The working harbour sits at the heart of local life, surrounded by colourful fish huts, local markets and some of the best seafood on the Kent coast. Harbour Street and the High Street are filled with independent shops, galleries, cafés and record stores, while traditional pubs and oyster bars reflect Whitstable’s long maritime heritage. Just to the east, Tankerton Slopes provide open green space, distinctive beach huts and wide views across the water.
For those keen to explore further, the Whitstable Coastal Trail links the town with Herne Bay and Reculver, while the Crab and Winkle Way offers a scenic walking and cycling route towards Canterbury. Whitstable railway station provides direct connections to London, making Penny Farthing Cottage an excellent choice for short seaside breaks or longer stays discovering north Kent.
