Whitstable

Starboard Light is set in Whitstable, perfectly placed for embracing the town’s relaxed coastal rhythm while enjoying a calm, residential setting. The beach is close enough for an early morning dip, a sunset walk along the shore or a quiet moment by the water with coffee in hand. This part of Whitstable feels wonderfully balanced, as it's close to the sea and the action, yet peaceful enough to truly switch off.

A gentle walk brings you to the working harbour, where fishing boats, oyster dredgers and colourful huts shape the town’s unmistakable character. Harbour Street and the High Street invite slow wandering, lined with independent shops, galleries, cafés and record stores, alongside bakeries, delis and easy-going pubs. The high street has really been updated in the last few years so it's a must visit. The Neptune is a firm favourite for food and drinks right by the sea, while nearby Tankerton Slopes offer open green space and wide views across the water, especially lovely in the early evening light.

For days beyond Whitstable, the Coastal Trail links the town with Herne Bay and Reculver for scenic walking and cycling. The Crab and Winkle Way winds inland towards Canterbury through countryside and woodland, with the historic Cathedral as it's end point. Whitstable railway station provides direct connections to London, making Starboard Light a superb base for both short seaside escapes and longer, slower stays on the north Kent coast.
