Free on street parking outside the property and on neighbouring streets within a short walk. See below FAQ for more parking information.
There is free residential parking along York Road, however, during peak seasons this road can get quite busy. North Barrack Road, Campbell Road and Canada Road all offer free residential parking nearby, as well. Alternatively, Beach Street has time-restricted parking options, while The Strand is a little further away, within a ten-minute walk.
The property is less than 100 yards from Walmer's seafront. You can walk along The Strand towards Deal (toward the pier) and along to Kingsdown too, where The Zetland Arms will meet you at the end for a well deserved drink, and maybe a classic pint of prawns also.
There is not a coffee machine at the property, but luckily you're always within a short walk to a good cup of coffee. We would suggest The Goose on the Green (3 minute walk), Sea Cafe on the Green (2 minute walk), The Pop Up Cafe (6 minute walk).
Stone’s Throw is set in Walmer, just across the road from the shoreline, where life follows the gentle rhythm of the sea. This quieter stretch of the Kent coast feels calm and residential, yet wonderfully connected, making it easy to enjoy early morning walks along the promenade or pause by the water as the light changes across the English Channel. Walmer’s unhurried pace makes it an easy place to settle into, whether for a short break or a longer stay.
Walmer has a relaxed, local feel, with traditional pubs, cafés and everyday shops close by, while the beautifully kept, award-winning Walmer Castle and Gardens provide a standout day out just a short stroll away. Head north along the coast and you’ll soon find yourself in Deal, where an award-winning high street offers local shops, bakeries, delis and antiques, alongside seafront restaurants, cosy wine bars and the town’s iconic pier - which is a must brunch spot!
Coastal paths run in both directions from Walmer, leading towards Deal and Sandwich Bay or south to Kingsdown, offering easy walking and cycling with wide open views. Walmer railway station provides direct services to London, making Stone’s Throw a wonderfully well-positioned base for enjoying the best of village calm, seaside walks and the vibrant charm of nearby Deal.
