Kingsdown

Violet Cottage offers a lovely and private setting, yet is also conveniently located for exploring all that this beautiful stretch of the Kent coast has to offer. With the convenience of on site parking, it is an ideal choice for families or guests travelling by car, making it easy to explore the surrounding villages and coastal towns. For those travelling by train, the cottage is equally well connected to Deal and Walmer stations, both of which have High Speed services from London St Pancras International. There are two local pubs on your doorstep, both offering delicious menus alongside a good selection of local ales - perfect for a relaxed lunch on the beach or an evening meal. Kingsdown village is just up the road, with convenience shops (newsagents and butchers). The vibrant seaside town of Deal is only a 10 minute drive by car, or 30 minutes on foot, where you'll find a charming High Street lined with independent shops, galleries and cafes. There is a Saturday market hosted in Union Road car park between 8am-2pm all year round, which is a must visit - especially for the famous Swedish buns from Bygaboo (arrive early as they sell out quickly!). Deal is also home to a great foodie scene - The Rose Hotel and The Blue Pelican are two that should be top of your list. The Pop Up Café is a favourite spot for coffee, brunch or lunch, and it is open throughout the week. For a slightly bigger adventure, Dover is only 15 minutes by car, meaning a spontaneous day trip to France is easy. Further along the coast are the much loved seaside towns of Margate, Broadstairs and Whitstable. Each offers its own character and charm, from sandy beaches and working harbours to renowned seafood restaurants, galleries and cultural scenes.
