Sustainability

At Keepers Cottages, we are dedicated to improving the overall experience when holidaying in the UK and minimising our environmental impact. Sustainability is at the heart of what we do, and we strive to operate in a way that respects and protects our local environment for future generations to enjoy.

We want to make sure our employees are valued and paid above the living wage, and guests to experience the best of Kent from our carefully chosen, eco-conscious suppliers and partners.

Partners

We are proud to partner with many fantastic local businesses to promote economic growth and maintain culture within our community. We constantly review our supplier arrangements to improve our impact as a business. All of our properties are located within a short walk of so many fantastic local suppliers.

Sustainable Materials

Responsible tourism is not just about reducing your carbon footprint but expands to supporting local communities and businesses such as restaurants, shops and bars. Here at Keepers, we are committed to sourcing locally produced and sustainable materials for our managed properties, ensuring minimal environmental impact, while maintaining the highest of standards for comfort. As a team, we regularly review the materials used in the properties and encourage our property owners to do the same.

Eco-Friendly Cottages

Engery Efficiency: Many of our holiday cottages have been designed with sustainability in mind, using renewable energy sources. We work closely with our home owners to highlight the different energy options available, encouraging the use of energy efficient appliances to minimise their carbon footprint. More and more of our properties now have electric car chargers and we encourage new owners to consider adding them when creating a holiday home.

Waste Reduction: We are that guests are mindful of their impact on the environment when staying at any of our properties. This means using recycling bins, unplugging appliances and switching lights off when not in use. We encourage guests to travel by train rather than by car, but also to walk where possible when they are here.

Our Impact

At Keepers Cottages we understand that all business decisions have an impact. We’re constantly learning about ways that we can improve our business and our understanding of the impact we have. From the properties we manage to the partners we work with, our choices influence our communities, our coastline and the countryside we call home.

We are committed to continually learning, reviewing and improving the way we operate: reducing waste, supporting local suppliers, encouraging sustainable travel and making thoughtful decisions that minimise environmental impact. Sustainability is an ongoing journey, and we actively seek better practices, meaningful partnerships and long-term solutions that help protect Kent’s landscapes while supporting the people who live and work here.
