Property Spotlight: Ravenscourt Featured in 25 Beautiful Homes Magazine

1 July 2026

We love any excuse to shout about our wonderful properties, and lately there have been plenty of them. Over the past few months, several of our homes have caught the eye of the interiors world, featured in publications including Period Living and Condé Nast Traveller, each one a lovely reminder of just how special these places are, not only to us, but to the owners who’ve poured so much into them. Most recently, it’s Ravenscourt’s turn in the spotlight, thanks to a beautiful piece in July’s edition of 25 Beautiful Homes Magazine. It’s the kind of feature that makes us want to look a little closer at the story behind the house, from the family who created it to the details that make it so unmistakably theirs. So we thought we’d share a little more about the home, the people behind it, and what makes it such a special spot to stay.

About Ravenscourt

An elegant Victorian townhouse just moments from the beach, Ravenscourt is the place where owners Brooke Copp-Barton and her husband Joel, along with their two children, escape to feel ‘completely relaxed.’ Designed with families in mind, the home is spread over three spacious floors and was renovated by the owners themselves, who have filled each corner with colour, comfort and character without it ever becoming overbearing. The Copp-Bartons added a side and rear extension to maximise the space of this heritage property, finding an intriguing ‘fisherman’s hatch’ in the bedroom during the process – ‘There were many theories on what this was for, but our favourite is that it was for fishermen to leap straight down into the kitchen early in the morning without waking anyone else in the house,’ says Brooke, who decided to keep the trapdoor hatch but reinforced the ceiling.

This isn’t the first time Ravenscourt has (deservedly) caught the eye of interiors enthusiasts. It was previously featured in both Country Homes & Interiors and Kent Life magazines, as well as in a house tour video for the popular YouTube channel Homeworthy. The interiors (more on those below) have fleshed out the old, authentic bones of the house with tasteful touches all individually sourced – the iconic pillarbox-red front door is the perfect example; Brooke herself spotted it in an antiques market before finding complementary stained glass cathedral windows.

Who designed the interiors at Ravenscourt?

Owner Brooke is an interior designer herself, founding Brooke Copp-Barton Interiors in 2017 out of Chiswick, West London. Brooke describes her style as ‘lived-in eclectic,’ preferring to source pieces that tell a story and bring their own character and time-earned patina to a place. When it came to a project as personal as her own holiday home in Whitstable, Brooke wanted to speak to the character and era of this period property, while making it a space where families could relax, play, socialise and “put a cup down without worrying about it ruining something.”

“I love to mix textures – the combination of a vintage rug alongside a velvet sofa alongside a linen ottoman creates something textural and comfortable. I also love to be surrounded by colour – that makes me happy. You’ll see a lot of my favourite colours throughout the house! I love red – it’s warm, and that’s the thread that weaves the whole house together.”

When renovating, it was critical for Booke and her husband that they be as considerate as possible of the house’s period. From replacing the unsightly PVC windows with wooden box sashes, restoring coving and ceiling roses and uncovering original fireplaces, no corner was left without (original) character.

A snippet from the Beautiful Homes article….

Many come for the oyster shacks, some come for the art galleries, but for Brooke Copp-Barton, her husband Joel, and their two children, Eleanor, 14, and Seb, 12, it was the laid-back vibe of this coastal town in Kent that attracted them back year after year. With its calm, shingle shoreline perfect for crabbing, and a vibrant high street ideal for a stroll, it ticked all the boxes for the family, so when Brooke and Joel finally decided to purchase a house there, they knew exactly where to focus their search. ‘We were after a period property close to the sea and town, which meant there were only a few streets on our radar,’ says Brooke, who, as a seasoned renovator and interior designer, was on the lookout for a run-down project to upgrade.
