What makes Rogue’s Cottage so special?
Described (deservedly so) by lifestyle journalist Megan Rose Murray as having a “twinkle in its eye,” Rogue’s Cottage has become somewhat of an icon in characterful cottagecore design. It brings whimsy and comforting nostalgia without slipping into the syrupy depths of saccharine kitsch; in Murray’s words, it should be too much – “yes, it’s sympathetic, but there’s a wryness throughout. At times happily twee, at others sharply juxtaposed.”
What Studio Ferry (more on that below) has created is a kind of storybook setting that feels a Goldilocks-level of just right. It feels as fresh as the sea air in which it sits, with enough objects and art to intrigue, but free from superfluous clutter. The colours, which range from pale blue to pea green and deep mustard, speak to the singular character of this very special place.
Who designed the interiors at Rogue’s Cottage?
Rogue’s Cottage is owned by Ashley Ferry, founder of Studio Ferry, who lovingly transformed the Grade II listed cottage into a space of unbridled comfort, colour and joy – all while respecting and preserving its character.
“Our design preserves the cottage’s original charm, while introducing a coastal-inspired palette. Thoughtful layouts and careful material choices make the spaces feel charming and playful with a sense of calm.
The result is a home that balances heritage, comfort, and personality, ideal for family stays and memorable coastal getaways. Each detail has been considered to ensure the interiors feel cohesive, lived-in, and distinctly tailored to the heritage of the cottage.”
